The Case of a Bullet — Shelled Thinking
Reinventing the physics of ballistics from first principles.
Firearm bullets have been manufactured since the 1970s. An estimated 600 billion bullets with shell-casings have been produced. The physics reveal a startling inefficiency: 40–60% of the gunpowder explosive charge is expended simply tearing the projectile out of the muzzle the instant the trigger is pulled.
